A Beginner Annotates

Here’s my first attempt at annotating and publishing one of my games. Please feel free to leave me your comments no matter how brutal.

Yes, you really should have taken the knight on move 7. When a piece is developed, “un-developing” it just leads to trouble. If its already on a good square “dig-in” as nimzo said.

    So -

I think the main problem here is that you are neglecting basic development.

    1. You’ve put your pieces into squares where it can be attacked. Thereby letting him gain time at your expense.

    2. 16..d4 – You tried to play in the center while undeveloped. A recipe for disaster. He has more force at his disposal at that moment, and so the prudent move is.. guess what Bb2 :)

Even now, i lose games because of the above two factors myself. The lesson i guess is that you have to bring your whole army out first, then you can think about things as “play” in the center, etc..

    - just my idea -

    Gdluck in your games
